Become a Horizon Scholar!
Earn a $2000 Scholarship! Join the Regina Philharmonic Chorus! Applications Now Open for 2025–2026 Season for HORIZON SCHOLARS
Are you a developing musician who’s passionate about choral singing? The Regina Philharmonic Chorus (RPC) invites applications for the Horizon Scholar Program, a unique opportunity combining hands-on choral experience, mentorship, and financial support. This scholarship is open to applicants of any age, with intermediate to advanced music skills, who can show evidence of enrollment in a recognized form of classical music study.
Examples of recognized study could include—but are not limited to—private lessons in voice, piano, organ, strings, winds, or percussion; undergraduate or graduate university or college courses in performance, theory, music history, or conducting; and participation in structured conservatory programs such as the Royal Conservatory of Music or equivalent. The validity of a candidate’s classical study may be reviewed on a case-by-case basis and approved at the discretion of the Horizon Scholars Committee.
What You’ll Gain
• Experience performing great choral masterworks and exciting contemporary works — including new and Canadian composers
• Opportunities to sing with professional orchestral musicians and, in select seasons, with the Regina Symphony Orchestra
• Insight into the operations of a large semi-professional choir
• Possible opportunities for choral conducting and choir management mentorship for suitable candidates with an interest in these areas
• Enhanced sight-reading, choral technique, and ensemble contribution skills
• Weekly mentorship with the Artistic Director and section mentors
